Tina Sweets flight touched down at North Cove airport promptly at nine in the evening. As she disembarked, she contacted the person on the other end, who spoke with a local accent, informing her, "Grant has been delayed due to an unexpected matter, so he sent me to pick you up, Miss Tina. Please exit the airport and wait by the roadside."

Checking the time on her phone, Tina confirmed it was about right. Upon meeting the individual, she found him to be a young man in his early twenties, dressed in traditional local attire. "Miss Tina, its me, the one who contacted you earlier. My name is Jack," he introduced himself.

Tina politely introduced herself in return, "Im Tina Sweet." By the roadside was parked a black SUV with a strong smell of gasoline, which overwhelmed Tina as soon as she got in, causing her to feel nauseous.

The car was dimly lit, and Jack, focused on driving, didnt notice her discomfort. "Miss Tina, the journey is a bit long. Ill wake you up when we get there. You must be exhausted from your flight. Rest for now," he said.

Tina responded with a heavy nasal tone, not daring to speak for fear of vomiting the acid rising in her stomach. She leaned back, closed her eyes, and clutched her bag tightly, trying to ignore her queasy stomach. After what felt like an eternity, they finally arrived.

The North Cove Inn was brightly lit with few people around. Jack helped her with her luggage, explaining as they walked, "Miss Tina, Grant asked you to stay here for the night, and he will come by tomorrow."

Nodding, Tinas face was pale, her forehead beaded with sweat. Jack, being acquainted with the inns owner, handed her over to the innkeeper before departing.

The innkeeper warmly welcomed Tina to her room, where no identification or payment was required, as everything had been arranged in advance. Tinas room, located near the corridor, offered a good view; opening the window revealed a distant lake. However, she was in no mood to appreciate the scenery. As soon as the innkeeper left, she rushed to the bathroom and vomited the acid she had been holding back all night.

After cleaning up, she called her cousin Rachel Shen to let her know she was safe. "Was it Grant who picked you up?" Rachel asked over the phone.

"No, it was his friend," Tina replied.

"Why didnt he pick you up himself? How could he" Rachel expressed her disapproval.

"He will be here tomorrow," Tina reassured her.

"Thats outrageous! You traveled all the way to North Cove to find him, and he cant even pick you up? Is he that busy? I shouldnt have let you go to him alone," Rachel fumed.

Tina, however, didnt mind. "Its okay. Dont be angry. Im already here."

"Your voice sounds weak. Are you having trouble adjusting?" Rachel inquired.

"Just a bit carsick," Tina admitted.

"Well, the environment there is harsh, and the roads are tough. Anyway, well talk more tomorrow. Rest for now. I wont disturb you further," Rachel said before ending the call.

The room at the inn was clean, and Tina, after removing her makeup and taking a shower, went to bed. However, adjusting to a new environment wasnt easy, and she woke up a few hours later feeling slightly better. She got up, groomed herself, and changed, wanting to look her best for their first meeting.

The morning sun was blindingly bright, and Tina wore sunglasses, her small face mostly hidden behind them, revealing only her delicate lower face, a pert nose, and crimson lips. She wore a red fringed ethnic-style dress that danced in the wind.

When she went downstairs, Jack was there, waving at her, "Miss Tina, come have breakfast!" Besides Jack, there was no one else, including the person who should have been there.

"Miss Tina, Grants still tied up with some matters. Hell be here as soon as hes done. He asked me to tell you to wait for him for a few days," Jack relayed the message.

"Alright," Tina responded.
