In the early summer of Bay Shore, red silk banners hung high, and the phonographs records spun melodiously. The grand Commandants residence was filled with an air of celebration, exuding an atmosphere of great joy. Lily Su, dressed in a dark green cheongsam, stood in the courtyard, her heart aching as she gazed upon the main hall where music and laughter filled the air.

Howard Du, resplendent in his military uniform, and a slender woman in a Western wedding gown were cheered by the guests, their union praised as a match made in heaven. Lily gently touched her slightly swollen belly, her sorrow spreading like weeds in her eyes.

Howard, today is our anniversary; do you truly intend to bring a concubine into our home on this day?

The bitterness in her heart burned like fire, and Lily bit her lip to contain her emotions, turning silently to return to her Longle Manor.

Not long after her return, an unwelcome guest entered her courtyard. Cissy Liu, who had been in a wedding dress, changed into a bright red cheongsam, her slender waist swaying as she approached.

"Oh, sister, are you still awake? Are you waiting for my bridal tea?" Cissy asked with a light laugh.

Lily, with a cold expression, looked at the newspaper in her hand, not even sparing Cissy a glance.

"You are not welcome here," she said in a chilling tone.

Cissy curled her red lips. "Today, my wedding with the Commandant, a blend of Chinese and Western traditions, has made waves throughout Bay Shore. Is big sister upset? It must be hard, considering that three years ago when you married him, the Commandant didnt even go through the motions of a traditional wedding with you, let alone anything else..."

Cissys words pierced Lilys heart, and the newspaper in her hand crumpled under the pressure.

"What do you want?" Lily demanded.

Cissy looked at Lilys belly, a dark glint in her eyes. "Of course, I wanted to see whats going on with your belly. I heard that three months ago, the Commandant, drunk, mistook you for me and slept with you by accident, and hasnt touched you since... Im curious, is it that easy to get pregnant from just one time? Just as the slap was about to land, Lily caught Cissys wrist in a reverse grip.

"You were nothing but a performer my father bought from a brothel; now you dare to defy me?"

The most painful past was spoken lightly by Lily, and Cissy almost wanted to tear the womans mouth apart!

However, when she sensed familiar footsteps approaching from behind, Cissys eyes darkened, and she instantly put on a pitiful expression, sliding to the side.

"Sister, Im sorry..." she wailed sarcastically.

Before Lily could understand why she had changed her face so suddenly, a forceful push came her way, followed by Howard Dus fierce voice.

"Lily, you venomous woman! How dare you hurt Cissy right under my nose!"
