Standing before the floor-to-ceiling window, Emma Thompson gazed down at the dazzling nightlife of New York City.

Her phone screen lit up with a message from Michael: "Baby, Im still drinking with the guys, probably going to be all night. Dont wait up for me, be good."

The reflection in the glass faintly mirrored Emmas expressionless face as she replied: "Okay, dont drink too much."

Michael: "Yes, baby."

Staring at the reply, Emma heard the bathroom door open.

In a moment, the rustling footsteps stopped behind her.

Emma turned her head.

Jake Harrison, with his damp hair slicked back, stood there with only a towel wrapped around his waist, his body exuding the warm and damp scent of water, his well-defined muscles radiating an intoxicating aura.

His deep, unfathomable eyes playfully surveyed her nearly transparent sexy strap dress after she removed her down jacket, saying: "I dont mess with my brothers woman."

Emma approached him: "But you still let me in."

Jakes unchanging black eyes slightly lowered, within his line of sight, the low neckline of her strap dress fully displayed her captivating assets.

He just smiled without saying a word.

At this moment, Emma felt particularly cheap in his eyes.

But she believed that men are the same at heart; no matter how high-minded they claim to be, they wont refuse a woman who comes knocking on their door.

Especially Jake, who had a notorious reputation among Michaels group of friends, known as a playboy who passed through flowers like a wave, far from a gentleman.

Emma took the initiative to embrace him, throwing out her trump card: "I dont believe you dont know that Michael is right next door, entangled with someone else."

Jake raised an eyebrow, not denying it.

Emma felt particularly pitiful in his eyes at this moment.

Jake wasnt the closest to Michael among those friends, and he was clear about it; most others likely had an idea as well.

Jakes rough thumb wiped away some of the lipstick from the corner of her mouth, a trace of casual playfulness floating in his long, cold eyes.

Emma remembered Laura sharing with her that experienced men are more considerate and know how to take care of a womans feelings.

Since Emma and Michael were each others first loves, Laura had even regretted for Emma back then.

Over the years, Emma had never had the chance to personally feel how uncomfortable it was, but tonight, she had a pretty good first experience.

Sure enough, her choice of Jake was right.

Tomorrow, Chris was getting married, and tonight Michael and his buddies all stayed in this hotel where the wedding would be held tomorrow for Chriss bachelor party.

So the next day at noon, Emma came again, first to the restaurant to meet Michael who was still having brunch.

When they saw Emma, they all smiled: "Sis-in-law came to check the fort?"

Michael affectionately put his arm around Emmas waist: "They can testify, we just drank and chatted last night, nothing out of line was done."

Emma said in a teasing tone: "How do I know if you guys arent covering for each other?"

Chris suddenly waved in the direction behind Emma and shouted: "Our Harrison is late! Even later than me, the groom."

Jake slouched, still wearing the hotel room slippers, and sat in the seat Chris had saved for him.

Right next to... Emmas right hand.

The familiar sharp cedar scent of him immediately filled her nostrils.

The woody cedar scent, with its unique coolness and sharpness like a high mountain snowfield, exuding a slightly distant cold tone, rolled up the memories of last nights scorching temperature in her mind.

Emma took the juice Michael poured for her, watching Chris ask Jake: "You werent the first to sleep last night? Why are you still the latest to get up, looking like you didnt sleep enough?"

Before Jake could answer, Michael said meaningfully: "Harrison, did a woman come into your room last night?"

Chris immediately got excited: "Damn! True or false?"

David, who just came back from the bathroom, chimed in: "True, the womans voice was quite loud, I wasnt sleeping in the same room as Michael last night? Next door to Harrison. I heard it faintly, heard it."
