Chapter 1: The Wedding Fiasco

I never knew people could be so shameless.

My mother was still in the hospital, and my father was boldly holding a wedding with his mistress.

Half a month later, I returned to my home again, only to witness this scene.

The yard was filled with vibrant roses, a buffet of Western cuisine. Amidst the clinking of glasses, the atmosphere was joyful and harmonious.

I could hardly believe that the groom, Howard South, holding a glass with a joyful expression, was my father, my own father.

Half a month ago, while my mother and I were at home, he slept with another woman.

That woman is todays bride, the same one who grew up in my house almost from childhood, only four years older than me, Zoe Song.

Caught in the act, my father offered no explanation, only stating his intention to marry Zoe Song.

My mother jumped from the third floor of the villa at that moment and is still unable to get out of bed.

The more I think about it, the deeper my hatred grows.

At this moment, I feel as if all the blood in my body is flowing backward, with hatred and anger intertwining, reaching a critical point, I feel like killing someone!

Crash—

I rushed into the banquet hall like mad, took down their wedding photo, and smashed it on the ground, with glass shards flying everywhere.

However, this did not calm my emotions in the slightest; instead, it made me even more furious. Ignoring the glass shards, I picked up the wedding photo with my bare hands, intending to tear it to pieces!

Howard stormed over, seemingly wanting to strangle me, and shouted, "Ann, what do you think youre doing? Huh?"

He showed no guilt, no shame.

"What am I doing? Do you know what youre doing?!"

My teeth were chattering with anger as I pointed at Zoe, my eyes bulging with fury, "My mother is still in the hospital, and you cant wait to marry this despicable woman?"

Zoe hurriedly soothed Howards chest, her eyes red, pretending to be understanding, "Dont be angry, I can understand why Ann is like this, after all..."

I grabbed a glass of red wine from the buffet table and splashed it over her, glaring at her with hatred, "Zoe Song! After all, what? After all, you know you have no shame, right?!"

I wanted to use all the vicious words I knew, but none of them could express a millionth of my anger. I clenched the highball glass, wishing I could just smash it at her.

"Ah..." she screamed, the red wine quickly spreading on her white wedding dress. She seemed a bit helpless, and in the blink of an eye, two streams of tears fell, "I know youve never liked me, but Ive married your father, and from now on, we are a family. Can you let go of your prejudice against me?"

Ha, the same old tune, utterly hypocritical.

Growing up, no matter what happened, she could always put on an extremely aggrieved yet tolerant demeanor. People who didnt know any better would really think it was me who had a problem with her and was looking for trouble.

Just like now, it was clearly her who climbed into my fathers bed! Yet she spoke as if she was the one being magnanimous, as if I was the one in the wrong!

My hands clenched, my fingernails digging into my palms without feeling the pain, gritting my teeth, "A family? Id rather keep a dog than be a family with you..."

"Snap!"

A slap came down hard and heavy.

I was caught off guard, staggering two steps and falling towards the ground, glass shards piercing my knees, a sweet and metallic taste filling my mouth, my ears ringing.

Howard pointed at me, spitting furiously, "Shut up! Didnt you say half a month ago that you would never come back to this home? Get out!"

This is my dad... This is actually my biological father.

I stood there in a daze for several seconds, feeling wronged, which instantly replaced my anger, filling my chest with a sour and swelling sensation.

Feeling my eyes getting blurry, as if some warm liquid was about to spill out.

People around were pointing fingers, and I helplessly lowered my head, closing my eyes, trying to hold back the tears.

The light on the side suddenly dimmed, and a mans deep voice sounded from above, "Ann?"

I looked up following the voice, and instantly, even my heartbeat missed a beat, "Mr. Bai, how are you here..."

Peter Bai, the vice president of a startup company, the last time I saw him was when I was about to confess to him, but I accidentally found out he had a girlfriend.

Since then, Ive been trying to avoid him.

I never expected that when I met him again, it would be at such an embarrassing and humiliating moment for me.

I quickly wiped the corners of my eyes, feeling a bit at a loss, wishing I could find a crack in the ground to crawl into.

He was wearing a simple pure black shirt and trousers, with an elegant temperament, one hand in his pocket, and said in a deep voice, "Arent you getting up?"

I was a bit nervous, and I tried to stand up abruptly, but I forgot that my knee was injured, and I couldnt support myself and fell towards the ground, landing in a warm and sturdy chest.

Peter quickly held me, his clear and pleasant scent enveloping me, and I froze, pushing him away, "Th-thank you, Im fine now."

He showed no intention of letting me go, his warm hand firmly on my waist.

Zoe asked in a panic, "How... how did you come?"

Peter casually said, "Mr. South sent me an invitation. Seeing the photo and name on the invitation, I didnt believe it, but I didnt expect the bride to really be you."

His tone was very light, but it showed an indescribable emotion, whether it was disappointment or something else, I couldnt guess.

Zoe bit her lower lip, seeming to want to explain, tears welling up in her eyes, only asking, "Do you know Ann?"

Peters hand on my waist became more forceful, and I had to lean against him, clearly feeling the tight muscles under his shirt. The action was intimate and ambiguous, and I was so nervous that I almost held my breath.

He spoiled me by rubbing my hair, which was long and meaningful, "More than just knowing."

Vague and thought-provoking words, his attitude changed from indifference to ambiguity, which made my thoughts chaotic.

"Peter Bai, you two are not suitable, you dont have to..."

Zoe looked at him with fiery eyes, but when she glanced at Howard, she suddenly fell silent.

Peter smirked and said sarcastically, "For what?"

At this moment, if I couldnt see something, I would be a fool.

I suddenly hooked his neck, stood on tiptoe, and lightly kissed his lips. Unexpectedly, he pressed the back of my head, deepening the kiss, lingering and domineering.

My heart almost jumped out of my throat, and I wanted to push him away, but his grip increased, with a warning implication.

Howard grabbed my arm, trying to pull me away from Peter Bai, and scolded, "Ann, as a girl, do you still have any shame?!"

I forcefully shook off his hand and retorted, "The upper beam is not straight, and the lower beam is crooked! What qualifications do you have to control me?"

He was so angry that his face turned red, and he tried to pull me again. Peter suddenly grabbed his wrist, his deep eyes full of undisguised hatred, and coldly reminded, "Mr. South, today is your wedding."

Howard then realized that the gaze of all the guests was on us. He waved his hand and glared at me fiercely, whispering, "Disgraceful thing, get out of here!"

I was about to retort when Peter suddenly bent down and picked me up. I gasped and instinctively hooked my neck around his neck.

He looked down with a smile and said to me, "Lets go, since this home doesnt welcome you, Ill take you home."

His voice was very gentle
