Mrs. Dye Qiao, the doctors words still ringing in her ears, clutched the prescription card as she slowly rose from her seat. "Thank you, doctor," she said, her voice carrying a hint of the hope that now filled her heart.

The physician, still writing out the prescription, handed her a card. "Here, go get your medication," he instructed before adding a stern reminder, "But do take care. Its not something to be taken lightly!"

Dye was well aware of the risks. Her thin uterine wall made pregnancy precarious, and many women, after a miscarriage, could never bear children again.

"Thank you, doctor. I will be careful," Dye responded with a smile and a nod, her determination to protect the life growing within her unwavering.

After three years of marriage, no one was more eager for the arrival of this child than her. She would safeguard this precious gift with all her might.

Exiting the outpatient building and returning to her car, Dyes driver, with a glance in the rearview mirror, asked, "Madam, Sirs flight is at three in the afternoon. There are twenty minutes left. Shall we go directly to the airport?"

"Lets go," Dye replied, a sweet smile playing on her lips as she anticipated the reunion with Keith in just twenty minutes.

Keith had been away on business for nearly a month, and she missed him dearly.

Unable to contain her excitement, Dye took out the pregnancy test from her bag and read it over and over again, gently placing her hand on her abdomen.

Here, she carried the fruit of her and Keiths love, a child that would be born in another eight months.

Eager to share the joyous news with Keith, Dye arrived at the airport, where her driver parked the car conspicuously. "Madam, would you like to call Sir?"

Checking the time, Dye estimated that Keith must have disembarked and dialed his number. However, the customer service prompt informed her that the call could not be connected at the moment.

"Perhaps the flight is delayed. Lets wait a bit," Dye said.

After a while, with no sign of Keith, Dye tried calling again, only to be met with the same automated response.

"Lets wait a bit longer," she thought, knowing that flight delays were common, sometimes lasting an hour or two.

Two hours later, Dye dialed Keiths number once more. Finally, the cold automated message was replaced by a voice. "Keith, have you landed?" she asked.

There was a pause on the other end, and then a female voice responded, "Sorry, Keith is in the restroom. Ill have him call you back later."

Before Dye could utter a word, the call ended, leaving her staring at her phone screen in a moment of confusion.

She recalled that Keith had not brought a female secretary on this business trip.

Waiting for Keiths callback, Dyes heart raced with a sense of unease. Ten minutes passed, then another five, but Keith did not return her call.

Unable to wait any longer, Dye dialed Keith again. The call connected after what felt like an eternity, and Keiths familiar, deep, and magnetic voice came through the speaker, "Hello, Dye?"

"Keith, where are you? The driver and I are in the D terminal parking lot. You can just come here directly," Dye said.

There was a pause from Keiths end, "Sorry, I forgot to turn on my phone after landing. Ive already left the airport."

Dyes smile faded instantly.

"Then - should I wait for you at home? I have something to tell you," Dye bit her lip, her voice wavering slightly.

"Alright, I have something to tell you too," Keith replied.

"Dinner is ready with your favorite dishes..." Dye continued.

"You eat without me; I have other matters to attend to and will be back later," Keiths voice was dismissive.

Feeling a pang of disappointment, Dye responded calmly, "Alright then."

As she was about to end the call, the same female voice from earlier interjected, "Keith, Im sorry, Dye called earlier, and I forgot to pass on the message..."

Before Dye could inquire about the womans identity, the call was disconnected.

Staring at her phone screen, Dye pursed her lips and instructed the driver, "Lets go home."

The driver, sensing the situation from Dyes fragmented words, pulled away from the airport.

At dinner, Dye had little appetite, but for the sake of her unborn child, she ate a little.

Sitting in the living room with the television on, Dye clutched a pillow, frequently glancing at her watch, her mind far from the show playing on the screen.

It was already ten oclock at night.

Yawning, Dye unknowingly drifted off to sleep.

In her half-asleep state, she felt a sudden lightness, as if someone had lifted her.

Dye murmured in her drowsy confusion, "Keith?"
